360 Total Security is a free antivirus program that removes and protects against viruses and various computer threats. It also acts as a powerful startup booster that does not only optimize your system but also shows you how long your computer takes to boot up.Features:

As soon as we had installed 360 Total Security quickly and without a hitch, the antivirus launched and displayed the message: “Your computer has not been examined yet” on a tabbed user interface that prominently displayed the “Examine” button.
Many antivirus programs take a rather long time during the initial scanning, but 360 Total Security took just about a minute to complete the whole process from the Start tab. When we checked our system for viruses from the Virus Scan tab and selected full scan, the process took about half an hour.
That was due to the fact that we had opted to scan all files, including compressed ones, under Settings. During that time, it scanned 135,848 files, some of which were more than 100 MB. We could also choose either quick or custom scan. We also allowed the program to indicate bootup time after booting and the various ways we wanted the antivirus to protect our computer.
The Speedup tab includes two options: easy speedup and bootup time. Under easy speedup, the program listed unnecessary startup programs that we could disable to shorten the time the computer took to boot, which we could monitor under the bootup time option. 360 Total Security is an intuitive startup booster that allows you to monitor its performance.
The cleanup tab allowed us to choose areas we wanted to scan from among:

• Cache files generated by Windows 8 Modern
• Cache files generated while browsing the Internet
• Junk files produced by watching videos and listening to music
• Application junk files
• Windows system junk files
• Cache files generated by phone utilitiesThe program provides the option to select all, deselect all or let it select recommended areas, which is can come in handy when a user does not know what to choose.
  Conclusion
  As its name indicates, 360 Total Security is a free antivirus that provides total security, from local protection of computers against viruses to Internet protection during online transactions. One of the things we liked about the software was its simplicity of use. We could perform one-click cleanup to make our computer function at its optimum level.

Using AVG AntiVirus Free
The installation package include many components that are automatically installed by default. However, custom support allows users to select the components they would like to install. These components include identity, Web browsing and e-mail protection.
Since AVG AntiVirus Free is ad-supported, it offers third-party tools and makes changes to Web browsers. However, we paid closer attention during installation and avoided clicking “Next” unnecessarily, which was enough to skip the things we did not want.
The new AVG AntiVirus Free has adopted the appearance of Windows 8, featuring flat buttons on a neatly organized user interface.
The program has several enhanced features, which are useful for protecting personal data both locally and online. The latest release includes an innovative cloud-based detection method that gives users the most up-to-date protection based on the latest virus definitions and other algorithms. With Outbreak Detection feature, the program enables users to take fast steps to nip emerging threats in the bud.
The program let us scan custom folders and files, removable drives or a whole computer. We could also set it to scan for rootkits alone. Indeed, the free antivirus software has customization options that enable advanced users to configure its complete scanning behavior. Some of the things we could configure included scan speed, exceptions, automatic virus removal, tracking cookies, heuristics, archives, PUP and spyware reports, file extensions and automatic PC shutdown.
In addition to verifying both outgoing and incoming e-mails, we also used the program to filter spam. It is compatible with POP3, IMAP and SMTP. The program also scans suspicious activities and applications to prevent identity theft.
